8th grade students at Moody Jr. High School participated in a Career Fair this month. Students studied career options and learned about the training, education, and skills necessary for their career of choice; what professionals in the career actually do; and the salary, benefits, and future outlook for the career. Many students participated in job shadowing, and all of them wrote research papers and created projects that were judged by local professionals.
The judges were Melissa Adkins, who works for the St. Clair County Board of Education providing reading intervention and instructional support; the Honorable Terry Cromer, an attorney at Durward & Cromer, P.C., and a judge for the City of Moody; and Dr. Stephen Russell, a physician at the UAB Health Center in Moody, and an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Dr. Russell has recently published his first fictional novel and his second is due to be released next month.
