Girls Inc. is hosting the Eureka! Teen Achievement Program this summer. It is open to all girls entering the 8th grade. Participants will enjoy a 4-week daily summer camp (8am-5pm) during which they’ll engage in hands-on projects in science, technology, engineering, and math. They’ll take field trips and will be exposed to academic disciplines and careers in the above-mentioned areas. They’ll also participate in sports during camp, such as swimming, rock climbing, and fencing. The dates are July 6-31, but girls who participate can also attend monthly engineering sessions during the school year. They will also have chances later on to take college tours. The camp takes places at UAB’s Business and Engineering Complex and it costs $325. Space is limited, so girls who are interested should apply early asap. For general questions or information on applying to the program, contact Quiwintre Frye at 599-5548 or firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also visit www.girlscinccentral-al.org for more information.
Gifted Center Open House for upcoming 7th graders will be today from 6-7:30pm.
Students interested in applying to be on the MJHS Yearbook Staff next year may pick up an application in the front office. Applications are due by May 1. No late applications will be accepted. If you have questions, contact Ms. Armitage.
