Announcements – 10/6/14

Please note that our system and schools have new websites!

October is a busy month! We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week during the first full week (10/6-10/10). October is also Anti-Bullying month and we will be celebrating that all month long.

October 6-10 is Red Ribbon Week, otherwise known as Drug Free Week. We will have activities at school to get the message out to students; however, I encourage you all to take this time to speak to your children at home about the negative effects of drug use.

October is Anti-Bullying Month. In addition to educating our students about bullying, we would like to provide our parents with some resources as well. Ending bullying is a community-wide initiative. Responsibility cannot only lie with the schools—like all components of education, ending bullying behaviors starts at home.

The football picture for the yearbook will be taken tomorrow morning. Meet Ms. Armitage in front of the school at 7:45am.

Mat Maid applications are available in the front office. Students interested in being a Mat Maid should return their applications by October 10. All questions should be directed to Coach Gosnell.

Early dismissal on 10/10 for Homecoming—MJHS will dismiss at 12pm. Buses will run.

The MHS Varsity Girls’ Basketball Team is selling Auburn, Alabama, and Moody sweatshirts for $20. The last day to order is October 17.

We’re having a Scholastic Book Fair on October 20-24 in the Computer Lab. It will be open each day from 8am-2pm, and it will also be open during Parenting Night on October 23. Students will be able to shop during their English classes during the week. We will accept cash, checks, debit, and credit cards for book fair purchases. You can also order online here. We are in need of volunteers to work the book fair during the day. If you would like to volunteer, please email Mrs. Franklin at with your available days and times. We appreciate your support of MJHS literacy!

Moody Kiwanis Club Pancake Supper tickets are on sale for $5. The supper will be on October 27 from 5-7:30pm at Carpinetti’s. For more information, please contact Mrs. Howell at

Bethel Baptist Church offers Upward basketball for both boys and girls. Please visit their website if you are interested. If you have any questions, please contact Steve White at or 213-0702.
